3 Nights Wachuma - San Pedro Retreat in Tenerife. The true Indigenous Path of Wachuma
With William Huaman Taype and Mihaela C
March 6 - 9, 2026
Come and participate with us on this 4-day retreat in Tenerife this is an invitation to step onto the Wachuma path, a journey of transformation guided by the sacred medicine of the Andes, also known as San Pedro.
The experience is guided by William Huaman Taype, an Andean maestro from Cusco, Peru, whose wisdom has been carried with gratitude and respect through generations. William has received recognition and certifications from cultural institutions in Cusco for his contribution to the preservation, transmission and sharing of traditional Andean knowledge, rituals and ancestral practices connected to the land and indigenous cosmo vision.
Each retreat begins with the Indigenous cleansing plant Qotoqoto (Shurika), used to purify the body and calm the mind, preparing participants to receive Wachuma with clarity, gratitude, and depth.
Qotoqoto (Shurika) is a Quechua and Matsigenka Indigenous plant traditionally used by Quechua Andean healers and shamans (Yachaq). It supports cleansing of the body and mind, helping with purification and detoxification of the physical and energetic systems. Traditionally, it has been used as part of broader healing processes related to conditions such as imbalance, excess weight, and chronic illness.
At the heart of the retreat is the ceremonial use of Wachuma (San Pedro), a sacred cactus central to Andean ancestral medicine.
🌵 Awaccolay, Wachuma or San Pedro has been used for millennia in Andean communities, from pre-Inca times to the present day. Wachuma supports clarity, harmony, and alignment with one’s true path. It helps release psychological trauma, expand the heart, and reconnect with unconditional love. This sacred plant awakens deeper awareness, sharpens the senses, opens the heart, and strengthens the connection with nature, the inner self and the greater whole.
Wachuma opens the eyes to the light: it works by day and by night, connecting us with the sky, the mountains, and all that is alive. Huachuma expands outward, reminding us that life is sacred and that there is no separation between spirit and earth.
Huachuma does not come to show us something new, but to remind us of what has been forgotten: that nature is not outside us, but within. That the sky is not conquered, but contemplated. And that to heal is not to escape reality, but to see it again with clear eyes. 💚
The benefits of Wachuma include:
Supporting the healing of psychological trauma
Expanding the heart
Connecting with unconditional love
Supporting mental clarity and conscious awakening
Deepening connection with nature and life purpose
Aligning with one’s true path
Encouraging self-knowledge and transformation
The retreat also includes Baños de Florecimiento (Flower Baths), ancestral cleansing rituals that invite what is good and release what no longer serves. Using medicinal plants, natural perfumes and flower petals, these baths support harmony between spirit, body and mind in connection with Mother Earth and the Apus.
If the time allows participants also take part in a Temazcal, an ancestral steam ceremony used for purification and renewal. Held in an enclosed ceremonial space, heated stones and medicinal plants create steam that opens the body, supports detoxification, and allows the release of what is no longer needed.
Over these three days, we gather in simplicity and love to release what no longer serves and open to a new way of feeling and living. Through ceremony and integration circles, participants are gently supported in meeting their inner truth, gaining mental clarity, and remembering their life purpose.
Important Information – Participant Evaluation & Safety
All participants are required to complete a mandatory pre-retreat screening form before being accepted into the retreat. This evaluation helps us ensure that the retreat is a safe and appropriate environment for each individual and for the group as a whole. Medical conditions, mental health history, and current medications are carefully reviewed. Additional clarification may be requested if needed. Honesty and transparency during the preparation process are essential for safety and wellbeing.
